Hauser Family Flight Session

This is by far one of the best ideas a client has come to me with. Stacey reached out during the holiday season and wanted to buy her father and brother a photo session of them flying their plane. I was thrilled as I love flying in small planes. We waited till summer to go ahead with the shoot. Meeting at sunrise we took to the sky to capture some scenic photos of a few landmarks around town as well as some family photos around the runway. I loved the idea on this family photo session. Capturing family doing what they love brings out natural, happy smiles and big grins. Thank you Hauser family for choosing me to create these photographs and I hope they find a good place in your home for years to come.

Family Session On The Farm

Photographing Kelsea, Caleb and Sawyer was an absolute pleasure. For a long time, I have wanted to offer more photoshoots on our farm, this opportunity allowed that to become a reality. We have an abundance of stunning locations to choose from and ample space to wonder. Sawyer was excited to meet the chickens and wondered why they had not laid eggs yet! (They are still too young) We walked the property across the fields and through the forest to enjoy the fading light in our little valley. Thank you, Kelsea, for trusting me with your photos and we can’t wait to meet your baby.

Lauren & Ant - Cape Town, South Africa

Lauren and Ant got married at Rivers Own Guest Lodge, Bains Kloof, South Africa. They have both spent time enjoying the outdoors together and the venue seemed like a perfect fit. What better way to kick off the wedding day than have the South African national rugby team win the Rugby World Cup right before the wedding. Needless to say, the vibe was set for a huge celebration.

Lauren and Ant worked with us designing their ideal wedding photography package from across the globe. Everything went as planned and the day turned out better than we imagined. The food trucks and bands served up delicious food and music until the early hours of the morning.

Thank you both for trusting us to document your wedding day, for being excited to paddle across a river to get a stunning backdrop for your photos.

Sarah and Doug’s wedding was full of laughs and so much fun to be apart of. The day started off with rain but quickly turned to a beautiful sunny fall day in Stroudsburg, PA. We loved arriving to Sarah and her bridesmaids wearing red and black plaid, straight away feeling like guests we got to work, documenting the day.

Thanks for letting us document your wedding day Sarah & Doug.

Kate & John - Philadelphia, PA

It was a wonderful fall day in the City Of Love. Kate and John both enjoy traveling and while on a trip through Italy last year, John proposed to Kate. Earlier this month they said “I do” in South Philly with a bumping reception held at The Union League. The entire celebration was filled with friends and family helping them celebrate. Having photographed Kate’s younger sister, Kara and her husband Ian, a few years ago, we were really excited to be working with their family again, referral clients are the best for us.

Thank you Kate and John for letting us capture your wedding day.

Kate & Michele - Hopkinton, New Hampshire

The weekend in New Hampshire was quintessentially fall and could haven’t been more perfect...Warm sunny days with cool evenings to follow, the leaves just starting to turn yellow and the light, oh those fall hues! Kate and Michele’s wedding was stunning- every part of it. We were not sure which we liked more, the wild flowers or the old barns on the working family farm. We feel so lucky to have been part of their wedding day!

Steph & Bryan - Lancaster, PA

Steph and Bryan celebrated their wedding day surrounded by family and friends in Lancaster, PA. It was a perfect, beautiful summers day complete with some afternoon showers that held out literally until the bride and groom were up the aisle as Mr. and Mrs.! It was a rustic, elegant day at the Harvestview Barn. The couple surprised everyone with a performance for first dance and a classic red Chevy that they navigated through the corn fields for some amazing photo ops. We were so happy to be part of their day! Thanks you two!

Shauna & Ian, Baltimore, MD

There is nothing more fun that photographing your friends wedding. Shauna is a scientist and Ian an artists, the mix of their passions and lives collided with a beautiful wedding held at Clavel in Baltimore, MD. When you talk to anyone from Baltimore about where to eat and drink tasty mezcal, they will say Clavel. The ceremony was thoughtful and the party went late, late enough to eat pizza at midnight.

Pavones, Costa Rica - Some Time Out

Winter is tough for us. we both love the sun, the sand and the ocean. Scott, coming from Cape Town, South Africa grew up in the ocean and warm climate. We needed some beach time and even more importantly, needed some time for each other, without wifi and work distractions. We booked flight to Pavones, Costa Rica, our fourth trip back to the area. We love it down there, the water is warm, waves are consistent and living in the jungle eating fruit, beans and rice is awesome. We met up with a number of good friends, who happen to be in the area at the same time. We surfed with them, made delicious food with them and explored The Yoga Farm's creek which is tucked away behind the farm. Here are some photos from our trip, hope you enjoy!

Maggie, Jason & Eli

We met up with Maggie, Jason and Eli a few weeks ago. Last year we did a maternity shoot for Maggie and Jason, turns out a few ours after the shoot Maggie went into labor. So we were excited about doing their first family session together. Maggie is a yoga teacher and grew up in this stunning old house down by the river.

Ski Family Session

The Weber family have their portraits once a year. I love it, they have a large family and seeing everyone all at once is a rich experience for me. The kids grow quickly, Jeff and Lindsay get even more cool as the years roll on. We spent the afternoon riding Swain Resort in NY. It is the perfect place for family riding and everyone had a good time out on the hill. If you are interested in an adventure family session let me know and lets make it happen.

Kate & Michele - Engagement Session on The Farm

We had Kate and Michele spend the weekend on the farm with us. We love having guests visit, especially when I can put them in front of my lens. The colours, tones and textures are at an all time high right now, I knew they would look stunning in front of these elements.

Madison & Zoe - Summer Camp Wedding, New Hampshire

Madison and Zoe’s summer camp wedding was very special. Ashley and I met both these beautiful people (and each other) at Windsor Mountain International Summer Camp years ago. We worked as counselors together and even lived in the same neighborhood in South Philly for a little bit. If you had told me ten years ago that I would be photographing their wedding back at camp with my wife, I would have laughed in disbelief.

When Madison and Zoe let us in on the details of the wedding, from a run and yoga session in the morning to an amazing DJ spinning the best tunes (vendors listed below), we knew this was going to be a weekend filled with love and laughter.

Thank you so much for letting us capture your weekend in the mountains of New Hampshire, where the purple lilacs grow.

Volunteering at Mdumbi, South Africa

As I write this Ashley and I are currently in Mdumbi, Eastern Cape, South Africa. We are volunteering our services to TransCape, an organization which helps the Mdumbi Community with Education, Health and Livelihood issues. It’s been three weeks of our four week stay and we have loved it. Of course it has come with high and lows. But living in a mud hut, collecting water, managing food and electricity (when it works) has slowed us down and really appreciate what we have in our lives.

Four years ago, we visited the Mdumbi Backpackers as guests, after 4 days we both agreed it would be ideal to return for a longer stay and possible help with the community which is in desperate need. It really feels like the country has forgotten about this land and it’s people.

Being South African, I grew up in a suburb, in Cape Town, I thought I knew a lot about the Xhosa life. Since I have been here I have learnt more in the past few weeks that any amount of time at high school. Community living where everything is shared has been one of my biggest lessons to learn. We had a BBQ the other night, before the food was off the grill we had 4 brothers from our host family standing around the fire. We catered for three people and then ended up sharing it with seven. It feels good to share, coming from the western world mentality, we hardly share with strangers, even look up from our screens to greet them with more than a “Hi!”. People stop to ask how you are doing, how your day has been before continuing.

Our good friend Ant from Ant Hoard Films flew out for three days of shooting, we didn't get the weather we hoped for and only lost the drone once due to strong winds, but collecting some stunning footage with what we had to work with.

Hope you enjoy some of these shots, from the past few weeks. We have been updating our Instagram account @thephotofarm, if you want to see more images from our journey, hit follow.
